A designer acclaimed the world over
Oscar de la Renta was born in the Dominican Republic in 1932. For him, fashion very quickly became a vocation to be fulfilled: against his father's advice, but with his mother's support, he left his native land for Spain, where he learned drawing, and then Paris: the biggest names called him to the French capital, from Dior to Balenciaga to Balmain. It was at Estée Lauder that the magic happened, as he decided to launch his own brand under his own name. Revelation: his inimitable style, strongly inspired by Spain, its colors, its softness and its joie de vivre, is immediately adopted by celebrities.
In 1977, Oscar de la Renta launched his very first parfum, soberly named Oscar; here he signed his first fatal creation, in the image of the women he loved to parade for haute couture. The juice, developed in collaboration with nose Jean-Louis Sieuzac, brings together an explosive bouquet of coriander, orange blossom, orchid, jasmine, rose and iris, with a hint of sandalwood, patchouli, myrrh and coconut. From then on, perfume was to remain a passion for him, which he put to work through an ever-renewed collection catering to the most varied tastes.
