Paco Rabanne

Paco Rabanne

The Paco Rabanne perfumes are a reflection of the designer's talent: a delicious blend of boldness, innovation, and seduction. They are also very closely tied to the era in which they operate, perhaps more so than any other perfumes. The fragrances and bottles appeal to both men and women.

The "1 Million" perfume, for example, has a bottle that is the perfect representation of a gold bar. In the midst of an economic crisis, this can be seen as a nod to our times. This proves that Paco Rabanne perfumes reflect the changes in our society. They are inspired by the image of the men and women who will wear them and aim to express the modernity displayed in the designer's haute couture creations.

Paco Rabanne, the Spanish luxury success story

If most people's attention is drawn to a perfume brand that combines both prestige and seduction, it is indeed the Paco Rabanne brand. This brand, with a reputation that needs no further proof, has managed to rise to the top of the global market with the perfumes and collections it offers.

The history of this brand began in the 1960s, when Paco Rabanne finished his studies. It was indeed at this time that the designer who would give his name to the brand started by making fashion accessories, such as buttons and wireless embroidery.

His creations of the time were, from then on, signed by brands such as Nina Ricci and Givenchy, among others. A few years later, in 1965, he created the collection called "Pacotilles," exclusively focused on fashion accessories made exclusively from Rhodoid, which included earrings, helmets, and even glasses.

It was then that the brand began its activities in Paris, and launched into designing models adapted for cinema. Then, in the period from 1967 to 1970, Paco Rabanne experienced a meteoric evolution, and began designing futuristic models, with materials such as paper or fluorescent leather.

In 1969, the Puig company bought Paco Rabanne, which led to a diversification of activities. From then on, the first Paco Rabanne perfume "Calandre" was born. Four years later, the first Paco Rabanne perfume for men was released. Since then, the brand has continued its activities in perfumery and watchmaking.

The story of the Basque designer

Born Francisco Rabaneda y Cuervo, Paco Rabanne was born on February 18, 1934, in Pasaia, a region of the Basque Country in Spain. Of Spanish descent, Paco Rabanne came from a father who was a colonel in the armed forces, who was shot when he was barely 5 years old, during the civil war. His mother was a seamstress at Balanciaga.

This is why, after these events, his family left Spain to settle in France. Thus, from 1951 to 1963, Paco Rabanne, having finished his studies at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, released a collection of 7 magnificent dresses in 1959.

A few years later, he won the Biennale in Paris and began his career with designers Roger Model and Charles Jourdan. It was after this that he took off with his Rhodoïd jewelry collections.

It was mainly in 1965 that he attracted attention in the industry, with the materials he used and the fashion accessories he created. Between 1971 and 1975, he continued creating and joined the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture.

Always at the forefront of fashion, he decided to enter the perfume industry, with his bottles as fascinating as each other. He then retired from 1999 to 2009. During this time, he was awarded the gold medal of merit for fine arts in 2000.

The flagship products of the Spaniard

In the perfume market, it is undeniable that Paco Rabanne stands out from others in terms of exceptional products. The Calandre fragrance expressly refers to the various metallic components of a car.

However, after Calandre, other fragrances followed, to enhance men and women. It is with this vision that Paco Rabanne launched the very first men's fragrance in 1973. If it is counted among the most cult perfumes, it's simply because it marked an entire generation with its scent.

It was only 26 years later that we were given a range of Paco Rabanne perfumes for women: Ultraviolet. However, he also adapted the concept for men.

As for other products from the brand, we were treated in 2005 to the production of the Black XS range. Three years later, the famous One Million range from Paco Rabanne came into the world. The latter is considered the best production of all time in men's perfumery, and its sales records are absolutely exceptional.

Paco Rabanne and its emblems

Since the house of Paco Rabanne has specialized in perfume design, it has gained notoriety, as well as a high-end clientele. It therefore finds itself obliged to promote its perfumes, taking care to carefully select its brand ambassadors. Over time, Paco Rabanne has had several, but here are three that stand out from the others.

Having already turned 25 a year ago, Emily Ratajkowski was selected among many others to become the face of a perfume whose name has not yet been revealed. With her immeasurable beauty, it's easy to understand why her most sensual body represents one of Paco Rabanne's many women's eau de toilettes.

Everyone knows the handsome man that is Sean O'Pry, through the numerous advertisements for Paco Rabanne's One Million perfume. He is even considered the most attractive male model. When you consider that he only needs to snap his fingers to charm a woman, it's clear why he's one of the brand's ambassadors.

Finally, even though he's not a model, it must be acknowledged that Nick Youngquest represents everything Paco Rabanne wants to convey. He indeed has nothing to envy from other brand ambassadors, with his perfectly sculpted body and very masculine expression. This former Australian rugby player is capable of successfully representing the brand wherever it goes.
