A long journey through haute couture

Guy Laroche, a man of both tradition and modernity, was born in France in 1921. His career path was rich and conducive to his personal development. He began his career in the hotel business, a field that opened the doors to art and awakened his passion for couture and fashion design. He decided to join forces with the great designers of the day, Hubert Givenchy, Pierre Cardin and Yves Saint Laurent, to create a new wave of style. Once he had mastered this skill, he was able to open his own Couture House in Paris, the fashion capital, in 1957. He quickly made a name for himself with his taste for daring colors and innovative cuts. His aim was to create comfort, elegance and refinement for women, to enhance their bodies. His designs focus on the art of décolleté and embroidered tailoring. In 1961, he launched his first ready-to-wear collection. The Laroche allure, identifiable at first glance, completely renovated the image of the woman. His success enabled him to expand his business, and his pioneering spirit and creativity earned him two Dés d'Or awards and the Légion d'Honneur.

Guy Laroche in perfumery

After making his debut in the world of haute couture, Guy Laroche set out to conquer the world of perfumery. Always in this traditional yet contemporary mood, he decided to travel to find the ideal essence. With this in mind, he traveled to the South Pacific, to the Fiji Islands, the quintessential source of his inspiration. Enthralled by this paradisiacal landscape, he created his very first fragrance, followed by his slogan "La femme est une île, Fidji est son parfum" ("Woman is an island, Fiji is her fragrance"). Guy Laroche's women's fragrance"Fidji" is composed of exotic floral ingredients, reflecting joie de vivre and a pleasant sense of escape. This first fragrance, conceived in 1966, has been a runaway success over the years, right up to the present day.

Over the course of his career, Guy Laroche has created legendary pieces worn by stars. He was notably responsible for the famous halter dress worn by Mireille Darc in the 1957 film Le Grand Blond avec une chaussure noire. The actress was a loyal customer of the designer's.

After his death in 1989, Maison Guy Laroche was taken over by a number of talented designers who ensured that its pioneering and audacious spirit remained intact. Guy Laroche boutiques became meeting places for stars such as Jane Fonda and Faye Dunaway.

Together, they created the ideal fragrance for seduction, a symbol of both virility and tenderness that reveals the ravaging, charming side of its creator. Drakkar Noir Guy Laroche Homme has been developed in a deeper, woodier, typically masculine tone, with an invigorating touch of lemon, verbena and spearmint. Add to this the Mediterranean scent of lavender, the flagship ingredient of men's perfumery, reminiscent of the scent of the barbers of yesteryear. The look of the Drakkar Noir bottle itself emphasizes masculinity, with a black case in the shape of a perfectly polished pebble. The reputation of Drakkar Noir has never wavered in its 30-year history.

This exceptional fragrance, both tender and virile, is suitable for any occasion, and was ranked number one in the world fragrance sales for an entire decade.
